Pane e vino, Malted Barley, Three Wishes top gluten-free list for the best
Two Providence restaurants and Johnston’s bakery made the national list for the best gluten-free meals in the US.
Pane e Vino and Malted Barley both placed in the USA Today Top 10 Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Gluten-Free Foods. Three Wishes Bakery made the top 10 list for Gluten-Free Breads.
All three are to be applauded for providing food that is safe for those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance. All three were first selected by a panel of experts before being voted on by readers. They were recognized for taking great care in preventing contamination and showing new and different programs.
Although they prove that gluten-free foods can be wonderful, there are restaurants and other businesses in Rhode Island that serve gluten-free foods. So here’s more about the three winners and five more spots worth checking out.
Bread and Wine
How amazing that Pane e Vino, No. 3 in the best list from USA Today, has the name of the bread (pane in Italian) in the name? The restaurant, part of the DeQuattro Restaurant Group, has a full gluten-free menu.

“There are almost as many options on their gluten-free menu as the regular menu, including gluten-free dishes like ravioli, chicken parmigiano and gnocchi,” said a USA Today story.
It’s true. The restaurant, part of the DeQuattro Restaurant Group, offers everything from antipasti and soups, salads, side dishes, and most of their best dishes. pasta such as Cacio e Pepe, made with gluten. They also have gluten free Pan Fried Point Judith Calamari.
Bonus: Their newest restaurant, Bar’Lino, 1395 Atwood Ave., Johnston, also has an extensive gluten-free menu including pasta and pizza.

Malted Barley
Surprisingly, Malted Barley made USA Today’s list at No. 6 since gluten is found in barley. But don’t let the name fool you. Owner Ron Koller is committed to gluten-free options at his beer bar and gourmet pretzel bar.
“Malted Barley offers gluten-free sandwiches and easy pretzels. Homemade options include both sweet and savory, from the BLT pretzel sandwich to the sweet cinnamon pretzel. of sugar,” wrote USA Today.
All sandwiches can be made with their gluten-free vegan pretzel. They include Blueberry & Brie, Grilled Cheese, Hummus, Bratwurst and Caprese. As for drinks, they have gluten-free ciders from Downeast in Boston and Citizen Cider in Vermont.

Three Wishes Bakery
Three Wishes Bakery was ranked No. 4 for the best gluten-free cookies by USA Today. Here is what was written about Johnston’s store.

Chef Angie Armenise and co-owner Jeanine Iannucci are committed to catering to their gluten-free menu and have a second pizza oven dedicated to pies. That was the investment they made during the construction of the restaurant that seats 280 people. Armenise ran a dough lab to get his head just before they opened.
An extensive list lists which foods are gluten-free and plant-based.

110 Grill on Fountain Street in Providence is part of a small New England-New York chain that’s committed to being compassionate. That includes having a gluten free menu. In fact, they are proud to say that 100% of their main menu can be made gluten-free. They have been recognized by AllergyEats as a Top Ten Allergy-Free Restaurant Brand.
The gluten-free menu includes Fish & Chips, Shrimp Scampi, Hamburgers, Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese, Ahi Tuna Noodle Bowl, Bang Bang Cauliflower and Clam Chowder.

May’s Gluten Free Market in Riverside is more than an optimist would imagine.
With a network of connections, and her own cooking and baking, owner Celeste King Bremer offers specialties from frozen treats and packaged ingredients to hot dishes like warm empanadas. and cooked food. Fresh cupcakes and other baked goods are on the menu every week. Sometimes there are scones or sticky buns. All are gluten free. There are plenty of dairy-free options, too, and some vegan options.
